Economic Empowerment Thru Shea Nut Transformation
Sideradougou, Cascades region
Context: The municipality of Sidéradougou, rich in shea nuts but affected by poverty and a lack of opportunities for vulnerable women, required targeted action. Recognising the potential of the shea sector in the municipality of Sidéradougou and the increased vulnerability of many women who are internally displaced, low-income households, and widows. With the support of the NGO FBF, the ASDD association implemented a project to empower 50 vulnerable women economically and socially by processing shea nuts into organic shea butter.


Ms. TRAORE Aminata: "Before, I used to collect shea nuts for my family's consumption. Today, I sell my organic butter, I have been able to pay for my children's schooling and even buy a small chicken coop!"
Ms. BARO Mariam: "Thanks to the training and equipment, I produce faster and better than before. I have become president of the women's shea butter group in my village!"
